Privacy Policy

Plain language, no small print. Here is exactly what we collect, why, and how to have it deleted.

This policy covers www.ahmedrashid4ward10.com, the campaign website of Ahmed Rashid, candidate for City Councillor in Ward 10, City of Ottawa. Last updated August 31, 2026.

Who is responsible

The Ahmed Rashid campaign for Ward 10 is the organisation responsible for this site and for any personal information you send through it. Questions, corrections and deletion requests go to ahmedrashid4ward10@gmail.com and are answered by a real person on the campaign team.

What we collect

  • Information you type into a form. Volunteer sign-ups, lawn sign requests and contact messages collect your name, email address, and where relevant your phone number and street address, plus whatever you write in the message field. Nothing more is collected than the fields you can see.
  • Donations. Contributions are processed on Donorbox, a separate service, on their own website. This website never receives, sees or stores your credit card number. The campaign receives the contributor details that the Municipal Elections Act requires it to record.
  • Basic server logs. Our host, Netlify, records standard request data such as IP address, browser type and the pages requested, for security and to keep the site running. We do not use these logs to build profiles of individuals.

We do not run advertising trackers, analytics pixels, or third-party marketing cookies on this website.

Why we collect it, and what we never do with it

Your information is used to reply to you, to organise volunteer shifts and sign deliveries, to send campaign updates if you asked for them, and to meet the record-keeping and financial reporting obligations that municipal candidates have under Ontario law.

We do not sell, rent, trade or share your personal information with other campaigns, political parties, developers, or commercial mailing lists. Ever.

Third-party services this site relies on

  • Netlify — website hosting and form delivery.
  • Donorbox — donation processing, on donorbox.org, under their own privacy policy.
  • Google Fonts — typeface delivery.
  • Google Translate — the optional French and Arabic translation of this site, used only if you choose a language.

How long we keep it, and how it is protected

Contact and volunteer information is retained for the duration of the 2026 municipal election campaign, and afterwards only for as long as election financial records must legally be kept. It is then deleted. The site is served entirely over encrypted HTTPS.

Your choices

You may ask us at any time to tell you what information we hold about you, correct it, stop contacting you, or delete your record entirely. Email ahmedrashid4ward10@gmail.com with the word “privacy” in the subject line and we will action it, normally within a few days. There is no cost and you do not need to give a reason.

Children

This site is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 14. Residents aged 14 and over are welcome to volunteer with a parent or guardian’s consent.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the revised version is posted on this page with a new date at the top.
